Thank you for reading our fourth issue!
The
last few weeks of Summer are on us as we release our August issue. We hope you’ll agree that the wait was worthwhile, as
this edition of the ‘zine is full of great articles from a variety of
contributors. I’ve received several very flattering comments
recently from satisfied readers who like the realistic and objective
approach we use here. I owe any credit this builds online to the
contributors of The Martialist, without whom this magazine could
not exist.
Don’t forget that half of the magazine
is available for free, right here, every month. Just so you can
catch up, if you haven’t read the free content for our issues so far this
year, here are links to them:

In the column to the right you’ll see a link to this
month’s free content repeated. Below that is the listing of this
issue’s subscriber content. Each issue contains such a list
so you can see what you’re missing. We hope that if you like what
you see for free online, you’ll be intrigued by the topics covered in our
subscriber mailing. To subscribe and receive these articles each
month via e-mail, click here.
This month’s subscriber content features a
lengthy bonus article on folder fighting by Morgan Atwood, a young knife
maker who shows a great deal of promise in the “tactical”
field. Morgan also wrote an excellent article on using journals
to help you train and learn. We have several great pieces on knives,
aspects of unarmed fighting, and mindset as it relates to awareness.
We’re also featuring a pair of articles from Dan
Webre of Outlaw Fighting. Of course, it wouldn’t be an issue of The
Martialist without something on Wing Chun, and for the benefit of our
readers I’ve archived online all the Wing Chun
articles written to date.
The free content this month features
an interview with and yet another article by Rich Dimitri
of Senshido. We have some interesting product reviews, focusing
particularly on knives, and a pair of video reviews, including Sammy
Franco‘s Rat Packed. Morgan Atwood submitted an article
on customizing Spyderco folding knives that complements his subscriber
article well, too. As usual, we think you’ll find the free half of
the magazine as good as the subscriber half, and well worth the wait.
Our goal at The Martialist is to
provide you with quality information, education, and entertainment material that will help you make choices about realistic self-defense.
You may not like everything you see, but that’s okay because I don’t agree with everything I publish from others, either.
(We encourage you to submit your own articles from different perspectives,
too.) As you will read many times in perusing our articles, the choice is yours.
Make it wisely.
