Thank you for reading our sixth issue!

Happy
Halloween!

While ghosts and goblins roam the night seeking nothing
more than candy, it’s not necessary to remind our readers that more troubling goblins also walk our streets.  As you and your
children prepare to celebrate Samhain this year, please use caution
and keep your wits about you.

The October issue is a milestone here at The
Martialist
.  It marks half a year of monthly issues.  I’ve said
before that this publication owe
s a
tremendous debt to its contributors, none of whom receive a single dime
for what they give of themselves here.  It also owes a debt to its
readers, who e-mail me regularly to express their opinions (which are
overwhelmingly positive) about what they read in these virtual pages.

I’ve made an effort to contribute more articles
personally to the “free content” in the last issue or two in order to
impart what I’ve managed to glean in my own training.  This
publication is not, however, about me – it’s about all of you out there
seeking success in self-defense.  To that end The Martialist
will always strive to provide a variety of perspectives and a plethora of
interesting material.

Don’t forget that half of the magazine
is available for free, right here, every month.
Just so you can
catch up, if you haven’t read the free content for our issues so far this
year, here are links to them:

In the column to the right you’ll see a link to this
month’s free content repeated.  Below that is the listing of this
issue’s subscriber content.  Each issue contains such a list –
so you can see what you’re missing.  We hope that if you like what
you see for free online, you’ll be intrigued by the topics covered in our
subscriber mailing.  To subscribe and receive these articles each
month via e-mail, click here.

This month’s subscriber content includes some great
articles by new names.  There are also pieces from some of our more
prolific contributors (such as another combatives article by Tony Manifold
and a touching piece by Harvey Moul).

The free content this month boasts several
other informative columns and, most importantly, an interview with none
other than Michael Janich of
Paladin Press
Mr. Janich was kind enough to answer our questions on a variety of topics.

As a nod to the Halloween season, we even offer a review
of Max Brooks’ The Zombie Survival Guide.  This is the most
complete resource of which I’m aware that deals with the living dead and
surviving their depredations.

Our goal at The Martialist is to
provide you with quality information, education, and entertainment – material that will help you make choices about realistic self-defense.

You may not like everything you see, but that’s okay – because I don’t agree with everything I publish from others, either.
(We encourage you to submit your own articles from different perspectives,
too.)  As you will read many times in perusing our articles, the choice is yours

Make it wisely.
