Spyderco Police folder is one of the best utility and self-defense knives available. It is all stainless steel, making it heavy but durable. (The weight makes it a great fist load and striking tool, by the way.) The blade — whether you choose serrated or "plain" — comes from the factory incredibly sharp. With a needle-sharp tip, metal pocket clip designed for "tip-down" carry, and strong rocker-bar locking system, the Police makes a great backup fighting tool and is more than adequate for daily utility chores.
Be advised, though: the Police is big. The blade is over four inches long and this puts it outside the legal limit in a lot of areas. It will feel uncomfortably heavy in the pocket to some users, too. Given its weight, it is best carried in jeans. Dress pants pockets tend to sag under its metal frame.
There is a liability associated with the all steel construction, — it is a bit slippery. Applying 3M carpet tape to the body significantly increased traction and handling of this Police model.
For those who like tactical folders fabricated entirely of cold, hard steel, the Police is the perfect choice.
