Those of you who have read these pages since 2007 will remember my scathing commentary on Zumbo, the outdoors writer and Fudd who allowed the anti-gun lobby to make of him a useful idiot. It seems the Fudds remain a very dangerous and powerful force within the firearms community, as evidenced by a recent banana-republic-style coup staged in the sleepy town of Elbridge, New York. Syracuse.com reported on the incident thusly:
Wade Haponski, a member of the Greenfield Fish and Game Club in Oneida County, has organized semi-automatic rifle shoots there. He said the Elbridge controversy is not unique and is “being fought on the national level.”
“It’s a cultural war, a generational thing” he said. He said the “old guard, the old traditional style of hunter,” prefers the wood-stocked, blued, pump-action (or bolt action) rifle or shotgun.
“And then there’s this new technology that is basically semi-automatic and packaged in a lightweight aluminum frame and able to accept a larger magazine for tactical shooting,” he said. He added that the debate has roots going back as far as when “our grandfathers returned from World War II” wanting to continue to use their military firearms for sport as civilians.”
He noted that many black rifles are legal for hunting in this state (with certain restrictions). “An AR and AK owner could either be a hunter, competitive shooter or both,” he said.
Haponski said people have a right to own such firearms. “The Second Amendment says nothing about hunting bunnies and duckies. (The amendment was put in place) to repel an invasion and to keep the peace. Hunting is a side benefit of owning a gun,” he said.
Those wise words from Wade Haponski come in response to the Elbridge Gun Club summarily expelling members who own “black rifles” — semiautomatic, military style self-defense rifles — rather than the traditional hunting rifles and sporting shotguns favored by the gun club’s Fudds. Read the link at Syracuse.com for the full story… and ponder the danger presented when elements within the firearms community eat their own.
Every time a Fudd condemns a rifle or handgun for which he, personally, has no use, he allows the anti-gun lobby to make a Zumbo of him. The gun-grabbers won’t stop at “politically incorrect” or “military style” firearms, you know; they won’t be satisfied until your right to defend yourself has been legislated into nonexistence. They’ll ban your hunting sports as readily as they’ll ban your ownership of self-defense guns. Remember that… and remember that only in unity can we even try to withstand the efforts of left-wing politicians to ban firearms.
