Modified Kerambit Deployment

By Phil Elmore

Move your hand to your pocket and index the finger hole,
curling your index finger inside.  Depending on the length of
your arms and the way your pants ride, you may need to carry the
modified kerambit more forward in your pocket to make this draw
comfortable.  Picture and old West gunslinger going for his
pistol — that’s the way your arm should move, from behind and below
the ring.
Pull the kerambit up out of the pocket, keeping it tight
to your body (but not too tight).  You should be bringing your
left arm up in front of your body in a vertical guard position as you
do this.
I’ve moved the camera angle to the inside of the hand so
you can see what’s going on.  Keeping your fingers clear of the
body of the knife, flick your wrist.  Picture trying to flick
something unpleasant from the tips of your middle and ring fingers,
away from your body.
That flicking action, if short and sharp enough, will
cause the modified blade to snap into the open position.
Close your fingers around the knife body and you’re all
done.  It happens a lot more quickly than it takes to describe.
